Nigeria: Boko Haram releases new video, says ‘No negotiations, No surrender’q
Shekau, who was not seen on camera for more than a year, released an unverified video late last month and said his time in charge of the Nigerian jihadist group may be coming to an end.
If the video indeed depicts Shekau, he appears thin and listless, delivering his message without his trademark fiery rhetoric.
It prompted speculation from the army that the Islamist group was on the verge of collapse in the face of a sustained military counter-insurgency. However, in Friday’s message, Boko Haram maintained it was a potent fighting force, with fighters posing with AK-47s in front of Toyota Hilux pick-up trucks and a lorry mounted with a military cannon.
“You should know that there is no truce, there is no negotiations, there is no surrender,” an unidentified masked man wearing camouflage said in a prepared script in Hausa, in the video posted on YouTube. “This war between us will not stop.”
The video, which was of markedly better quality than Shekau’s and included Arabic subtitles, featured nine masked Boko Haram fighters standing on sandy ground in an undisclosed desert location.
It is unclear if the masked people in the video include the Boko Haram leader. Shekau was still the head of the “West African wing”, said the masked man in the video, likening Boko Haram to the Islamist insurgencies in Iraq, Libya and Syria. In March 2015, Boko Haram pledged allegiance to the Islamic State group, another of the world’s most deadly terror organisations.
But there were few signs Boko Haram — now styled as Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) — has so far benefited from the partnership. Nigeria’s army has since then won back swathes of territory from the militants, liberating thousands living under Boko Haram control. An estimated 20,000 people have been killed since Boko Haram began its campaign of violence in 2009 to carve out a hardline Islamic state in northeast Nigeria.
More than 2.6 million people have fled their homes since then but some of the internally displaced have begun returning.

VIDEO: Man turns into Dog in Tb Joshua's Church
The video, uploaded by Joshua's official YouTube channel Emmanuel TV, shows a man acting in an eerily bizarre fashion during a time of prayer, even to the extent of eating one of his shoes.
According to the video description, "The demon within this young Liberian man is shockingly exposed, the entirety of his features contorting to the resemblance, movement and eerie sounds of a wild dog."
After the prayer, the man who introduces himself as Alexander Johnson, explained that his problems began after he was sexually molested by a mad woman aged six.
Thereafter, Johnson his life was characterised by frustration and a serious ‘lust’ for women. Reacting to his bizarre behaviour during the prayer, Johnson said he had no memory of what occurred.
“There is no way I could have done these things,” he asserted, insisting it was the influence of an ‘evil spirit’ and adding that he was ‘completely free’ after the prayer.
Comments on the video revealed a mixed reaction from the public, some insisting the video was nothing more than an act.
“How much did they pay you to do this acting?” wrote one viewer. “I agree there are a lot of false prophets in the world but Prophet T.B. Joshua is NOT one of them,” another argued.
This is not the first controversial video Emmanuel TV has released on YouTube. A video purportedly showing Joshua’s encounter with ‘lucifer’ recently went viral, amassing over one million views in a matter of weeks.
Joshua’s YouTube channel has over 320,000 subscribers, making it the third most viewed in Nigeria.

News: Pastor rapes female Church member for refusing to marry him
A 29-year-old man of God in Ebonyi State, identified as Pastor David Ibe, has been arrested and detained by the police in Ebonyi State for allegedly raping a female church member, Nnenaya Okute, because she refused to accept to marry him.
New Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that Ibe who is the clergy in charge of Christ Command Mission, Onicha-Igboeze, Onicha Local Government Area of the state, had allegedly lured Okute to an uncompleted building where he defiled her, leaving her with severe bruises.
The Police Public Relatins officer (PPRO), in the state, DSP George Okafor, who confirmed the arrest, noted that Pastor Ibe committed the offence on February 27, 2016, when he lured the unsuspecting Okute to an uncompleted building at Umuobunna Uburu and sexually assaulted her.
“The suspect is an impostor who is among those claiming to be pastors but dent God’s image through their atrocities.
He has been arrested and has confessed to committing the crime, though he claimed that she refused to marry him after investing heavily on her.
It is terrible that he choose to rape the girl for refusing to marry him, as he will be used to set example to others who commit such crimes.”
Okafor therefore warned members of the public to be wary of evil men in cassocks, claiming to be genuine men of God.
